Wii causing more problems than fun for some…
December 9th 2006 07:34
Funny as it sounds, but Wii gamers have become so ‘into’ their gaming that they have begun damaging their household appliances! It seems that the handle on the Wii remote is cheaply made, with the wrist band breaking…sending the Wii remote flying at full speed! *lol* Sorry I had to laugh…but its true…and there is evidence to show the disastrous results of Wii controllers flying into TV screens, walls and other products. Damn really…look at the pictures in this post and see those precious LCD screens cracked due to the high impact of the Wii controller into them.
What game is causing this problem to become more and more common? Well the Wii comes with a sports compilation of games, of which includes tenpin bowling. Whist gamers try to bowl, they swing the controller towards the screen (because we all know by now that the controller and games are synchronized by sensors) which will release the tenpin ball towards the pins. In many cases, gamers let go of the controller after they swing and in my view the wrist handle is of cheap design and breaks off launching the controller into the direction of the imaginary ball (which in most cases is the TV!).
Nintendo has released some sort of statement saying they are looking into the quality of the wrist strap/problems and that gamers do not need to fling the controller in full force to attain 150 kmph speed in tenpin! *lol* This is really sucky for many gamers who have already been affected…with the ironic statement that by acquiring a cheaper console (relavite to PS3 and Xbox360) they are damaging their even more expensive televisions (and LCDs can get quite pricy these days). Anyways, its early days since the Wii just recently launched globally and lets see what Nintendo will do as this problem increases.
