Virtua Tennis 3 to hit an ace on new-gens!

Sega is at it again with the new Virtua Tennis 3 that will hit the PS3 and Xbox 360 next year. Tennis fans must be enjoying the increase in quality tennis games hitting our consoles, as I sure am (having played Top Spin on a regular basis for quite a while now!). Undoubtedly, Sega would have noticed the added competition set by Microsoft with Top Spin which plays very similarly to the Virtua Tennis games but with added improvements in graphics and gameplay.
From viewing the trailer available for this title, it is apparent that the game will play almost identically to its predecessors which might be a problem for those who want really realistic play. I found the past two Virtua Tennis games very addictive but plagued with the ‘arcade’ feeling. None-the-less the game was still enjoyable against the computer AI and of course with friends, and Sega has noted the important of multiplayer modes in this title especially.
Although Sega is tight lipped with the details regarding the multiplayer functions available for the title, I would expect rankings and international charts where players can compete in competitions to win prizes and trophies. It would be really spectacular to see the character you create from scratch make their way to a Wimbledon final and win the grand slam!
Graphically the game looks superb with lighting showing full shadows and reflections on the court, with wind even shown brushing the clothes of the players on the court (nice eye candy). I am set for this game, and await the full release to come out soon. Let’s just hope this title can give Top Spin 2 a run for its money and bring another title (possibly Top Spin 3) to compete against!
