Tekken 5: DR lands in download form on PS3
January 3rd 2007 08:44
Sony PSP owners were given a dose of the brilliant fighting game Tekken 5, named Dark Resurrection which was a re-release of the original game with additional features and modes. Playstation 3 owners (in Japan and Hong Kong at the moment) can download the game at approximately $16 to their hard disks (800mb) and unlock the additional in-game movies at an extra charge.
Full widescreen support and 1080p resolution is also available for this title which will not really show how powerful the PS3 really is. Simply said, this game is just a port of the PSP version with some added eye candy. A lot of the extra modes such as online world rankings and the bowling mini-game are not present either which shows a slight downfall in the presentation of a good game which should be complete for the PS3.
So is it really worth it? If you are a PSP owner than this game surely is. Moreoevr, if you have lived under a rock and never touched Tekken then this game is well worthy of playing. But Sony and Namco does have to get its act together and work on releasing Tekken 6 as soon as possible. Tekken 6 is what Tekken fans and fighting gamers alike are waiting for and should really push the sales of the PS3 once it is released. My advice is to purchase Tekken 5 for around $10-20 second hand and keep yourself occupied until Tekken 6 blows our minds away when it is released (hopefully within the next TWO years :/).
