Swing Sonic around on the Wii
November 8th 2006 06:53
Sonic and the Secret rings will be Sega’s upcoming title on the Nintendo Wii and is set to be released next March. Sonic is Sega’s main icon and has represented the brand (and its past consoles) for more than 15 years and he still remains alive! (…thankfully). I still find it amazing that this hedgehog has made his way onto a Nintendo console which I never expected especially after all those playground wars I had in primary school on who was better; Mario or Sonic!
This time around, Sonic will be controlled using the motion sensor Wii controllers that have captured the entertainment industry. Players will move Sonic around the map as he speeds through the levels and give him quick pulses and aiming in the air by flicking and pointing the controller in various directions. Sonic’s aim in this title is to go on a recovery mission and capture all these ‘Secret’ rings that have gone missing.
As players move Sonic, he must dodge obstacles, jump over collapsing bridges and destroy enemies – all which are done in quick timing and accuracy. Speed has always been a key to enjoyment in all of Sonic’s games, and its not lost in this title! Gamers should note that this title isn’t the same game as that which is on the PS3 and Xbox360, which will prove interesting to Sonic fans with another title on line for playing. The only question for Sonic fans is whether they can comprise controls for graphics as the PS3 and Xbox 360 title will surly have greater graphics and a different storyline. On the other hand, Sonic on Wii might prove more enjoyable to a wider audience including the little ones who will find the Wii controller to be a godsend! Either way I am happy…long live Sonic!
