Super Paper Mario flip siding on the Wii
April 12th 2007 08:51
Originally planned for release on the Gamecube, Nintendo have opted for a Wii only release of the latest edition in the Paper Mario series which is released this April. The GC seems to be a console in the mist as we see little support left for the console that has now been superseded by the Wii. Wii gamers will be happy to see this title on their console, and it will be a smash hit for sure.
The game plays very similarly to Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door which was released on the Gamecube not long ago. Gamers control Mario and a team of other members including Princess Peach and Luigi in moving in a platform environment and fighting enemies in real time RPG style. Yep, strange to see Mario in his own RPG but it has been done before and any new comers to the RPG scene will find that this RPG title isn’t as hardcore as the Final Fantasy series, but more simplistic and relaxing to play. Players level up and acquire new moves etc and perform button combinations during battles for example to execute moves.
Graphically this game is simple yet colorful and pleasing. Mario can switch from 2D to 3D (and visa versa) to enter hidden/specific parts of the map and perform special moves. This adds a new flavor to the game which is welcoming and should appeal to gamers who fancy a change in gameplay from time to time. Along with the graphics comes a strong story line as we would expect from an RPG and Mario title (or so we wish). Count Bleck is Mario’s new enemy and has begun the destruction of the world due to Bowser and Peach’s forced marriage! It is now up to Mario to find 8 hearts to save the world and put a stop to this mayhem that Bleck has unleashed.
A classic Mario game that is recommended to all Wii owners. I unfortunately was hoping to buy this on my GC, but now left to run back and finish the Thousand Year Door.
