Super Paper Mario coming to the Gamecube!
May 10th 2006 12:29
The Nintendo Gamecube isn’t dead yet, with Nintendo announcing at E3 today that Mario is returning to the classic 2D side-scroller format which made him famous some odd 25 years ago! It isn’t all 2D though, with Mario being able to mix around 3D dimensional maps, whilst keeping his ‘paper-like’ status. Those who played the excellent RPG titles Paper Mario on the N64 and Gamecube will feel at home with the overall feel and design of the game.
Players will also be able to control other main characters in the Mario franchise, including Princess Peach and Bowser! This will create interesting twists in the plotline since Bowser has always been after Peach and fighting against his great enemy (and our hero) Mario!
Graphically the game looks stunning. Crisp and colourful, Nintendo is planning to release this title by the end of this year exclusively to the Gamecube. Some might even say, it compliments the gameplay of the New Super Mario Bros which will also feature on Nintendo’s handheld console, the DS later this year as well.

However, how long can Nintendo go on using Mario to save their arses? They'll really have to pull their socks up for the Wii cos seriously, they can't release another 2D Mario game on that platform....surely...

Nintendo on the other hand still produces quality games which are fun and addictive! Look at the Gameboy- still going hard after all these years!
