My spider senses aren’t tingling…Spiderman on the Wii

Spiderman 3 just came out last Thursday here in Australia, and I found it a quite enjoyable film. Although I am not a diehard fan of the Spiderman films or the comic books (I only liked Venom as he looked really cool in Capcom’s Street Fighter games and comics), I would have hoped that the game released on consoles would try to match the enjoyable nature of the film. Well it hasn’t panned out that way at all, and Wii/PS2 gamers are suffering the worst.
The Wii and PS2 games look quite awful graphically, with gameplay and plotline less to be desired. While the PS3 and Xbox360 versions of Spiderman 3 were produced by Treyarch, the PS2 and Wii versions were produced by Vicarious Visions. This might account for the weaker gameplay compared to the new gen-console versions (but even they have had bad reviews). Players learn combos and swing around New York City with the Wii remote which gets quite repetitive and boring quickly. Along with the random battles with random gangs, the plotline scratches the surface of the film and ends to quickly.
This game is another movie ripoff trying to make money during the advertising storm. I said it before and I will say it again…I told you so. Games based on films and released on every damn console always end up rubbish. This is a pure example. Look at the graphics and you will vomit. Play the game and you will get bored. Buy it and expect to lose your hard earn dollars.
