Sonic spinning onto the PSP

Sega’s famous Sonic the Hedgehog will be making his way onto the PSP Officially in Sonic Rivals. This title follows the ‘racing’ theme placed on the recent Sonic games, with players placed in 3D maps, whilst engaged in 2D platform fighting and racing gameplay. Players will get to choose between 4 characters; Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Sonic’s newest rival.
So what… another racing game where you run around a colourful world at ultra-quick speed…how will that is enjoyable? Well it doesn’t look like a typical racing game, since players will have to ‘hustle’ and battle each other on each map to the finish line. Reminds me a bit of the Powerstone games (on the Sega Dreamcast) which had levels where players used weapons and other weird items to defeat their opponents to the finish line. That was very amusing…especially with a group of friends.
Fortunately, this title will also have multiplayer mode, allowing players to challenge each other wirelessly. On the note of internet multiplayer games, it has yet to be decided, but I doubt it will be in place in the final release
