Smooth Moves for WarioWare on the Wii
August 2nd 2006 14:35
The motion censor controller exclusive to the Nintendo Wii is a very interesting peripheral device that will draw gamers into a new dimension of gaming. Nintendo’s WarioWare will utilise this feature in a comical fashion throughout the 200 mini games available to play with players moving their arm in slow and quick motions to perform tricks and puzzles.
When Nintendo displayed the interactivity that the controller has with games I was quite sceptical as to whether this function is a gimmick to sell Nintendo’s deteriorating console department or a new dramatic innovation for the gaming scene. I am leaning towards the latter these days as I see Nintendo’s trailers featuring the amazing interactivity players will have with the gameplay. WarioWare doesn’t disappoint in this department, and includes minigames such as balancing a broom on your “palm” (which is essentially the controller on your hand), doing bicep curls and even doing squats (with the controller on your head!).
This game will suit both children and adults alike and can be a fun party game to boot! The gaming concept of fun is starting to come back in a simple yet enjoyable way and WarioWare: Smooth Moves is an excellent example of this. Check it out as one of the launch titles when Wii is released later this year.
