Silent Hill spooking its way into handheld format

Silent Hill fans rejoice once again with Konami bringing the awesome spine tingling and stomach twisting horror title to the PSP next year. I have seen the trailers and read the previews and all I can say is I am hyped! Silent Hill Origins will be set in the creepy and mind boggling town of none other than Silent Hill, but this time the main character will be Travis O’Grady who will explore the town for himself in order to find out the horrors that lie within (maybe even why the town is the way it has become!).
The PSP is powering this game very well with graphics looking outstanding (especially for a handheld!). Konami have even adopted the now popular 3rd person Resident Evil 4 control view which pits the camera behind the shoulder of the player with his weapon in the foreground. This control structure is different to the traditional Silent Hill camera angles which may have annoyed some…and this inclusion into the game looks like a good path for Silent Hill following the raving success of Resident Evil 4’s control handling.
I am quite happy to see the PSP finally getting some great titles. It has been a while and Sony must be feeling the heat especially after the lack of promising titles and the broad range of piracy occurring due to hackers cracking the ‘un-crackable’ firmware! This title along with Metal Gear Sold Ops (also from Konami) will hopefully make the PSP a spotlight in the gaming industry once again.
On a closing note, Silent Hill fans in Australia must be very disappointed since the film has taken ages to be released here! Honestly this has got to be a joke…there must be some serious censorship occurring at the moment. Can you believe that Silent Hill (the movie) has officially been released in the United States already? It hasn’t even been released in the cinemas here! Arghh and you wonder why people resort to piracy…
