Silent Hill isn't so silent anymore

Silent Hill, the classic horror and gut wrenching game series released by Konami has been gaining a lot of publicity lately, and the release of the highly anticipated Silent Hill film is no exception.
The film is set in the haunted town of Silent Hill, where a young girl is lost and her terrified mother is left to find her following a strange car accident. While wondering through the fog filled deserted town, the mother finds that she isn’t alone, and hence begins the horror.
Having played the Silent Hill series across the Sony Playstation and Xbox consoles, I can say that survival horror games really keep you on the edge and are not for the faint of heart. Such a series can be compared to the excellent game play offered by Capcom’s Resident Evil series, but on a different psychological horror level (Silent Hill can become quite disturbing graphically and musically).
To fill the gap in survival horror gaming genre, Konami has planned to release a Silent Hill Collection (in coordination with the film), comprising of the Silent Hill 2,3 and 4 games for the PS2. Additionally, a PSP title is also in the making named Silent Hill Experience, but follows an interactive ‘comic book’ interface in UMD format. Silent Hill Experience may not quite be a PSP game, but perhaps a remake of Silent Hill 1 might be in the works for the PSP (comparatively to Resident Evil Deadly silence – the original remake of Resident Evil for the Nintendo DS).
Additionally, Konami also has their hands full with a fifth title for the Silent Hill series, confirmed for the Playstation 3.
