Scarface drug pushing might be a tad too much…

I recently played and finished Scarface: Money Power Respect on the PSP and although I am an avid Scarface fan, I was quite disappointed with this title. Vivendi Games has essentially put together a mini-strategy game based loosely on the film where gamers take control of a block of land on the map and ‘build’ drug factories, hire thugs and dealers to generate income to eventually control the whole city. Players are rewarded with clips from the film as they progress through the game which is very simple and can be finished in a matter of hours.
Sigh…couple of hours indeed. Graphics were poor, and game play was very repetitive. The simple object of hiring thugs and attacking other enemies with purchased powerups was interesting at first but got old quick. Also, if you think this game is similar to the one on the PC and other consoles (following the GTA play style) then look elsewhere…this is a ‘puzzle’ game. The rewards for passing levels and eventually completing the game were ridiculous! All I was rewarded was mini-clips from the film and they weren’t even that long. The only good thing about this game was the voice overs that sounded very close to those in the film.
Would I recommend this title? Well not really...unless you wish become a strategist in drug dealing (sarcasm). This title is such a mess and has really tarnished the Scarface film in my mind. On a similar note, the PC and console version of the game is getting poor reviews too. Now I don’t even know if I should bother reviewing that game to and become even more angry at the garbage games producers are creating to exploit fans for their hard earned cash.
