Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

The much-awaited Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII will be released exclusively on the Sony PSP on June 19th, 2008.

This role-playing blockbuster is set seven years prior to the events of the first Final Fantasy VII, where the Shinra Company is rapidly increasing its influence through its monopoly on mako energy and military might. With the burgeoning city of Midgar as its base and symbol of prosperity, Shinra is on the verge of establishing absolute dominance over the world.

The game mainly focuses around Zack Fair, a 2nd Class - and later 1st class - SOLDIER, and the events leading up to his destined demise. Many of the Final Fantasy VII characters such as Cloud Strife and Aerith Gainsborough will feature in the game.

The game sold over 300,000 copies on its release in Japan last year.

Sony to release a revamped PSP!

July 15th 2007 04:38

New PSP on the left

In time for Christmas this year, Sony will release the redesigned and slightly upgraded edition of their handheld console the Playstation Portable. So is this news that 'big'' and it will it make countless PSP owners out there sell their current PSPs and purchase the new edition (*ahem* Nintendo and the DS (to Lite version)? My prediction is pretty much no...

Big puzzle indeed

Sega have always been my favorite games publisher and Crush - developed by Kuju Entertainment, is an example of what creative and fun gameplay exists in a puzzler for the PSP. This is a quirkly little storyline with Danny, the main character in the game suffering from insomnia and trying to figure out why. His doctor uses a 'crush' machine which creates Danny's dreams into 3D levels which also include nightmares!

SWAT: Target Liberty

May 13th 2007 03:26
Sierra Entertainment has come a long way since King’s Quest, Space Quest and Police Quest. Their latest project to hit the gaming screen is SWAT: Target Liberty, designed specifically for the PSP system. It ticks all the right boxes: an international terrorist threat; a special weapons and tactics team; and the New York cityscape. A real-life SWAT veteran was called in to the Sierra offices to act as the game’s consultant, so you can sure that SWAT: Target Liberty will be keeping it real.

Marc Saltzman of the Associated Press seems more than impressed with Ratchet on the PSP. He believes it really acts as a shining beacon of what the PSP can offer and proof it can deliver a 'console like experience' while on the go. But Mr Saltzman, isn't part of the problem with the PSP is that it is not delivering a NEW experience like the DS?

Call of duty not on par

March 19th 2007 10:42
IGN has scored Call of Duty for the PSP a poor 66/100, citing the controls and gameplay just plain sucked. The controls are reportedly bearable, but the gameplay does nothing to make up for it, so therefore it really doesn't play well overall at all.

Burnout Dominator…burnt out?

February 14th 2007 09:57

The Burnout titles have come a long way since being released some 6 years ago…but I still feel that Electronic Arts – the developer of the series, hasn’t done many spectacular changes to keep me interested to this point. For people who have never played the Burnout series, then get off your backside and at least give it a go. Burnout Dominator is actually the next installment in the series, but on the PSP and PS2 and set for release on March the 6th this year for the PSP.

The Warriors makes their way to the PSP

February 7th 2007 12:55

Rockstar, the games company famous for the successful GTA series, released The Warriors on the PS2 and Xbox just over a year ago, and next month are planning to re-release another successful hit: The Warriors. The Warriors was released on the PS2 and Xbox just over a year ago and although violent and filled with highly adult themes, it proved to be an excellent title based on a film.

Frank Miller wrote an epic and violent novel about King Leonidas and his 300 soldiers who fought Xerxes and his Persian army. This graphic novel has been turned into a film which will be released early this year and Warner Bros. has also decided to create a game based on the film. At the moment this game is scheduled for release on the PSP around the time the film is released and it looks like a gruesome action orientated game.

The long awaited Sony PSP title is almost out and it looks damn fine. This title is not a turn based game like the previous 2 PSP MGS games Metal Gear Acid 1 and 2, but follows the same gameplay structure as the normal series plays…3rd person action, stealth and adventure. Sony PSP ought to be very happy as the year draws to an end with a big title finally hitting the PSP in time for Christmas!
