Nintendo Wii’s answer to Gran Turismo?
November 2nd 2006 10:53
Ubisoft are releasing an interesting launch title for the Nintendo Wii which will hopefully give Ninentdo owners a decent and exclusive car racing game once and for all. GT Pro Series allows players to choose from a range of 80 licensed cars from Honda, Toytoa and Nissan (to name a few) and pit themselves against the computer or real life opponents in drags, races and drifts.
Ok fair enough…its just like any other racing game? Well cell shaded graphics are in place for this title which adds a ‘cartoony’ feeling to the game which is different to the high defition graphics gamers will see in Xbox 360’s Forza 2 and PS3’s Gran Turismo. Perhaps this alternative in graphic display will relate to the lack of hardware grunt that the PS3 and Xbox 360 have, but none the less this graphic engine shouldn’t stir gamers up too much.
Yeah…so graphics are different… but I am not jumping out of my socks yet…
Well Ubisoft will ship an additional accessory with the game at no extra cost. An attachable mini steering wheel will allow players to physically hold a steering wheel (with their Wii controller in the middle) and steer the wheel in a driving circular motion as though they are driving the car. This should immerse the player in the game (well that’s essentially the point) since the Wii does utilize motion sensor gameplay in all its games. This is the selling point for the game and might be a bit quirky for some.
I can’t say much about this title except the fact that I love racing games which involve Jap cars that can be modified and drifted. On the steering wheel concept? Well gamers will just have to wait and see how the Wii turns out…I am starting to get sick of all this motion sensor stuff… what about focus on pure gameplay!
