Nethack is even better than I remember

If you've got Ubuntu running on your computer, with a simple command, you can be playing Nethack in, er, seconds. Well, 30 seconds, probably.
Nethack is easily installed by typing
and is run from the terminal by running 'nethack'.
I've been struggling with Nethack, mainly because I don't play it seriously, instead, running a quick game while I run other tasks in the background. As a result, I've just hack'n'slashed my way through the dungeon, falling to some eventual foe, or to a horde of water moccasins.
Taking a look at the Nethack Wiki provides a player like me with all sorts of interesting information, for Nethack is a game that punishes you to help you learn.
This means that the game will be deliberately vague, posting information like "You get a strange feeling" or "There is an amber flash", instead of telling you outright. While this may be frustrating for the beginner, after a while, the nondisclosure of the game feels like a comfortable atmosphere, especially compared to games that give you too much information.
For an even more low-complexity view of Nethack, some clever monkey created Nethack on a whiteboard:
Wild, eh? Get your Nethack-on today!
