MMO releases patch which causes digital breast reduction; gamers incensed, rioting.

Age of Conan is a popular MMORPG centered on the universe described in the Conan the Barbarian comic book series. The comic was originally written in the 30s, but has undergone many treatments, including a reimagining of the original stories and a movie featuring the governor of California.

Developer Funcom released a patch recently to address some minor issues, but a side effect of the patch is that it reduced the size of the breasts of female avatars. Games, noted for their preference for playing skinny girls with big breasts, armed in useless, showy armour and wielding a weapon designed to cause maximum jiggle, were distraught at the changes.

"Give us back our boobies!", they screamed in unison, like a million voices crying out in terror.

Wired has the scoop:

""Funcom can confirm that some of the female models in the game have had the size of their breasts changed. This is due to an unintended change in data that was introduced in an earlier patch, data which controls the so-called morph values associated with character models and the size of their respective body parts," Funcom representatives wrote in a recent forum post. "We are working on a fix for this and your breasts should be back to normal soon.""

An insightful Wired reader came back with his own comment:

"Since the patch affected body part proportions, does this mean that Conan's penis shrank as well?"

Without the bustiness originally built into the game, players were shocked to find that their characters ran faster and developed fewer back problems. Unfortunately, though, they no longer received free healing potions at the leering gnome alchemy shop.

Lol! Well-written post... I should imagine some people would like these changes, though?

louie, PoMo, Lilla, it's a ridiculous story that becomes funnier if you read the forum posts. These gamers are like detectives, searching for clues, doing measurements. If only we could tap into that indignant fury for beneficial research!

On the other hand, I have to admit that when I see those game ads and posters, with the slim girls, wearing the useless, boob-showing armour, it definitely draws my attention.

Even crazier are the games that put the 'jiggle' in, requiring a physics model for each breast! Read about it here!
