The less known competitor of WoW...

I was just browsing the wide variety of MMORPG games available and this game caught my eye: Minions of Mirth. I never really heard of this title and it was interesting to see how it looked quite similar to the Morrowind games and even World of Warcraft which has undoubtably won the gaming market in the online world.
Prairie games developed this title which was released last year and is essentially a one-off-payment type game where players do not have to pay monthly fees like WoW. Players just purchase the game and enter the master server in which they can play in single player or team based gaming (up to 6 players). There is a large selection of 12 races and 16 classes, with players being able to choose the traditional warrior, healers, wizards etc and eventually build up their character's stat points and weponary (as we would expect from an MMORPG). Players also create their character from scratch including body size and facial image.
Graphically this game looks quite poor, but maybe so to reach a much larger gaming market. Not everyone in the world has a steaming quick computer with the latest graphic card, so although the blocky and dull graphics may deter hardcore eye-candy boys, other gamers with lower specs can play this game at ease. Additionally, this game does not have to be played online, with offline mode and single player roaming also available to gamers.
This game reminds me heavily of Guildwars, however feels like a weak attempt to steal glory from the big 2 MMORPG titles being WoW and Guildwars. There is a free demo, so try it out and see what you think as you slice massive bugs with your rusty small sword.
Minions of Mirth is available on the PC and MAC.

I guess for other titles with lower budgets such Arch Lord or even Minions of Mirth, it must be harder to manage/hire full time GMs - so resultingly a harsher filtering system. I wonder if you can still say noob and pwned!
