Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops almost out
December 3rd 2006 02:50
The long awaited Sony PSP title is almost out and it looks damn fine. This title is not a turn based game like the previous 2 PSP MGS games Metal Gear Acid 1 and 2, but follows the same gameplay structure as the normal series plays…3rd person action, stealth and adventure. Sony PSP ought to be very happy as the year draws to an end with a big title finally hitting the PSP in time for Christmas!
Portable Ops is set after Metal Gear Solid 3 which sees Snake (the main character in the series) trapped in a military base in South America. On his mission to escape, Snake must team up with a variety of characters of which have different characteristics which will help him complete missions and escape. In order to team up with these ‘mercenaries’, Snake must kidnap and interrogate them in order to make them switch sides and join his growing army. Interesting concept, with team members having different abilities such as medic and surveillance which help Snake precede through the levels.
Graphically the game looks superb and Konami have maintained their quality standards with the release of this title. It is amazing to see that this is in fact a handheld title with approximately 20 hours of gameplay and even online play which introduces a new flavor of enjoyment to gamers. Players will be able to use their team characters to challenge other players from around the world in online combat which is similar to that played in the PS2’s MGS 3.
I am highly recommending this title for all PSP gamers as it is exclusive and is bound to be a blockbuster title for the PSP (finally we have a worthy one). This is classic MGS play with additional team work elements followed with a complex yet entertaining storyline. Another feature which is different but I found attractive is the cut scenes which run in pleasing comic book structure which looks pretty nice so to say. Get it when it comes out December 5th!
