There's less than 10 days to go until gamers across Australia and around the world get their hands on the latest - and final - installment in the hugely successful Metal Gear Solid series.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots sees the return of the much loved Solid Snake for the last time as he returns to the battlefield to confront a long-time rival. This much-awaited title features all the fantastic features and gameplay of the previous three installments while introducing many new elements such as the OctoCamo suit concept.

The OctoCamo suit concept is a new chameleon-like camouflage system which allows Snake to blend into his surroundings after remaining motionless for a short amount of time. A new robotic drone, allows Snake to communicate to other characters, carry out reconnaissance and even has an inbuilt attacking system for increased stealth operations. The game will also see the return of some characters from previous series such as Raiden.

MGS4 is released exclusively on the PS3 and will come with two discs - disc one is Metal Gear Solid 4 (stand alone single player game) and disc two is Metal Gear Solid Online (online multiplayer game).

I've read on joystiq that it won't be the last metal gear game, but it will be the end for Snakes story.

This would be THE game to give a perfect reason to own a PS3. Sadly i'm still saving up to buy one!

You are quite right, Edward - perhaps I should've been a bit clearer in stating that this is the last MG title with Solid Snake and Kojima at the helm.

I believe many MGS fans will purchase a PS3 for this game alone.
