Left 4 Dead is going gold

Rock, Paper Shotgun continues their Left 4 Dead love this week, reporting that the game has gone gold.
RPS is cuckoo for cocoa-puffs about Left-4-Dead because it mixes a well-established genre, the zombie FPS, with multiplayer action. The game forces you to act like a team, and punishes you severely for playing individualistically.
It sounds exciting, even though it uses fast zombies, which were denounced by Simon Pegg in the Guardian. I suppose we can be a little more gracious to video games, which need fast enemies to give players the sense of danger.
Of course, the game results in massive zombie swarms, as Reddit puts it "Massive Unexpected Zombie Swarm!", which threaten to drown the player in zombie limbs and blood.
Whew - that's some fast zombie action. From the video, it looks like random, senseless violence, but people are gushing over the game, and it's already being listed as this year's best.
