Imagine Super Smash Bros….Xiaolin styles!

Following the hit cartoon series, Xiaolin Showdown will be released in gaming format this November on all major consoles and handhelds (excluding new-gens!). The title will be released by Konami and really packs a multiplayer punch with gameplay similarity to that of Powerstone and Super Smash Bros. Not familiar with these titles and have been living under a rock for the past few years?...well the basic structure of these games follow the ‘beat-em up’ principle where players choose a character and are pit in a arena or moving stage filled with weapons and pick-ups to use against enemies.
Gameplay is quite varied in this title with players teaming up in co-op modes to defeat enemies in large scale moving environments with main bosses from the cartoon series matching them at the end of each level. Multiplayer modes are also available where players can verse each other and must either completely eliminate their enemy’s health or push them out of the stage (and send them falling to their doom!). Control-wise, the game seems to play quite simple with limited combinations and a strong focus on the use of powerups and using items which are scattered around the map.
In terms of graphics, the title has crisp, colourful cel animation which will really suit the younger generation of gamers who also watch the cartoon series. Although the graphics look a bit dated, this might supplement the fact that the targeted audience will be the young gamers. Expect to see a budget price accordingly.
This should be an interesting title and one which should be fun to play with the kids and alongside your friends.
