Live a life online for free on the PS3!

Second-Life was a game which made a lot of money for many people (buying and selling property), and created a wave of addicts in an environment which has already been classified as anti-social (that is online gaming), is now being ‘cloned’ by Sony for the PS3. This title called Home, will be released by Sony for PS3 users on its online network for free use and is bound to be a success given the love of online gaming by this generation of gamers.
Home essentially gives players a free apartment for their highly modified character in game and the ability to meet people and make friends in usual real life locations such as malls and theatres. By mentioning the ‘highly modified’ character, players can almost create a real clone of themselves from head to toe to play in this game. Impressive graphics to say the least.
Whilst this ‘free’ title looks so fine and dandy, there is a catch. Players who wish to live in luxurious apartments and locations in the game with licensed fashion products and household items will have to ‘pay’ fees in game to acquire them. They can thus invite their online friends to their ‘exclusive’ party house to show off their graphical goodies. Players can however throw these objects around (ahem…a TV) and also decorate their apartment accordingly.
Interestingly enough, advertising will be a main source of revenue for this title. Posters and even trailers in movie theaters can be played through the online service which will really please advertisers (along with all the products displayed in malls).
I do not really recommend this title, but since its free – why not. But then again, people will easily become addicted and be tempted to buy in game goodies. Get a life guys and don’t stay home to play Home. Gaming can only go so far…but playing a real life in a game is just too much for me. Please wait for Metal Gear Solid 4 – that is what gaming on the PS3 is all about!
