Ghosts ‘n Goblins reborn!

Who would of believed that Capcom would bring this title back to life in classic 2D format for the PSP. Yes that’s correct, if you are old enough to remember (I know I am) Ghosts ‘n Goblins was a smash hit when it was released in 1985 as an arcade title and on the NES. The title resurfaced onto the Gameboy in the year 2000, followed by a PS2 title in Maximo: Ghosts to Glory which followed a similar flow to the classic title but in 3D.
So what is so special about this title? Basically the simple yet addictive gameplay is what makes this game so special– a side scrolling platform game where the player fends off swarms of ghosts and monsters whilst trying to save his loved one (so sweet!). Players control Arthur who can slash his sword, throw fiery cocktails and boomerang his way through his enemies (who come thick and fast).
In addition to the side scrolling hack-and-slash gameplay, players will be able to pick up extra weapons, armour and pick ups which make Arthur do amazing things like jump higher than average (to those hard to reach places) , and also super shoes which give Arthur quick feet to run through the map at a fast pace. All these little additions do spice up the gameplay further.
The graphics look very nice indeed, with 3D rendered backgrounds and flashy effects. Again I have to give compliments to the graphical power of the PSP which allows game developers to create such stunning and quick following graphics that makes game so much more enjoyable these days.
If you have played the Mega Man or Metal Slug series, then you will feel right at home with Ghosts ‘n Goblins. Being created by the great Japanese gaming giant Capcom and revisiting the classic gameplay which made the game so popular so long ago, this game should be a blast when it lands on the PSP this September!
