Fallout 3 Preview!
April 17th 2008 11:54
I think we're all looking forward to Fallout 3.
Considering that Fallout 1 and 2 are two of the most beloved of all games ever released (fun fact: I made that up), it's only natural for the hordes of gamers to slaver in anticipation.
The image posted above look eerily similar to the premise of the movie "I Am Legend", which featured Will Smith and a dog, fighting back hordes of ghouls.
Well, Fallout was notorious for its ghouls, but the ghouls were often quite funny. At least, I thought they were. They operated a nuclear power plant in one Fallout game.
Kotaku had the chance to play an early build, and the article says it all:
It sounds like the developers have done an excellent job of merging fast-paced action combat with the basic elements of the turn-based strategy that the original games had. Yesss... a good decision... it'd be lunacy to expect gamers to sit through a turn-based game.
Perhaps the biggest victory is that they've managed to keep with the same style as the first two games:
"Everything I saw about this game was impressive, but what really got my attention was its overall art style. The optimistic fifties design juxtaposed against the destroyed landscape is a great choice and is seen everywhere from the HUD to the atomic design of Vault 101."
Fallout 3 is likely to come out late in 2008, but who knows if the release date gets pushed back. I'd be happy having the game arrive later, and be bug-free.

"Fallout 3 may not have a solid date yet, but after seeing this build, I can honestly say I am well and truly smitten."
