Crysis may be a crisis to play
August 1st 2006 09:57
cheduled for release late this year, EA Games along with game developer Crytek will be releasing Crysis a first person shooter for the PC and next-gen consoles PS3 and Xbox 360. For those unfamiliar with the developer; Crytek was the team behind the smash hit Farcry which was released on the PC and Xbox over the past few years. Farcry was a very popular and rewarding FPS, with similar traits from the game following through to Crysis.
Crysis is set on a tropical island where a strange meteor has crashed carrying with it some fiendish aliens. Whilst on a trip to investigate the incident, a military research team from North Korea are also on the lookout and become a threat to the current investigation team that the player is in (hmmm of all countries they choose North Korea…maybe once US should be an threat perhaps?). None-the-less, the player must deal with both sides with powerful weaponry and limited ammo to survive.
Been there…done that? Maybe so, but this title possess’ some extraordinary graphics which will leave gamers struck the awe, not only at the images they see on screen, but also at the hardware specifications they will need to drive this game. Annoying to some, but a new step in gaming engines for the industry as this title utilises the 64bit architecture of new PCs and runs on Microsoft’s new Vista OS (for the PC).
Aside from the wonderful graphics (including moving leaves when touched and reflecting lighting), gamers should also expect a thrilling storyline that will keep gamers on the edge of their seats. I can’t wait to get my hands on this title so keep your eyes pealed for more information on this title as its release date draws nearer.
