Devilishly hard, yet addictive - Crush
May 16th 2007 13:12
Sega have always been my favorite games publisher and Crush - developed by Kuju Entertainment, is an example of what creative and fun gameplay exists in a puzzler for the PSP. This is a quirkly little storyline with Danny, the main character in the game suffering from insomnia and trying to figure out why. His doctor uses a 'crush' machine which creates Danny's dreams into 3D levels which also include nightmares!
While the storyline is quite weird and interesting, it is the gameplay which sets this puzzler aside from the rest. Players can switch between 3D and 2D modes of play within the map and rotate the screen 90 degrees in multiple directions. This allows the player to gather more information needed to solve puzzles and hence complete the map quicker. Danny can push balls, flip switchs and crush bugs all in the hope of reaching the end of each map (feels like a rat in a maze!).
The developers of Crush have stated that difficulty will increase as players finish levels, with the final levels taking up to 30minutes each to complete. There is approximately 20 hours and 40 levels of gameplay which should keep PSP owners and puzzle game lovers occupied, and don't let me forget to mention the graphics which look very nice indeed - especially during the crossover in the 3D and 2D camera angles.
This title is set for release by the end of this month and I highly recommend it on the PSP.
