Burnout Dominator…burnt out?
February 14th 2007 09:57
The Burnout titles have come a long way since being released some 6 years ago…but I still feel that Electronic Arts – the developer of the series, hasn’t done many spectacular changes to keep me interested to this point. For people who have never played the Burnout series, then get off your backside and at least give it a go. Burnout Dominator is actually the next installment in the series, but on the PSP and PS2 and set for release on March the 6th this year for the PSP.
Dominator essentially follows the previous flow of gaming as in the previous titles, with players racing through oncoming traffic, avoiding (or creating) accidents and being rewarded for spectacular crashes. The result is an ‘adrenaline’ rush (or so the developers hope), and the ability to unlock more cars (faster and more vicious) and more tracks.
Maniac mode is a new feature in this title which will have players driving like maniacs, through oncoming traffic, drifting and doing burnouts. With this mode is 3 specific segments which include drift, burnout and near miss – all of which are straight forward and reward the player according to the crazy moves they pull off in their car on the street.
It looks like a good game on paper, but the style of driving still remains the same as the previous titles. EA love producing sequels which blatantly acquire sales from the title of the game alone (*ahem* FIFA series), and I think they should revamp the Burnout game in a new format for the new-gen consoles in the future.
