Halo 3 or 4 to be on PS3 ??

This is the question on many gamer's minds as Bungie Officially announced its break up with Microsoft! Bungie is now an independent developer although Microsoft is stated to still hold a minority share in the company. This is an interesting newsbreak as Halo 3 has hit $300 million in sales in its first week of release (Gamespot).
Incredible, with the Halo franchise still pushing ground with the prospects of Halo 4 to make it to PS3 - given that Bungie is not wholly owned by Microsoft anymore. This in my mind raises my interest in the PS3 for future games including possibly Halo. What is even more interesting is that press reports say that the sales of Xbox 360 driven by Halo 3 might be exhausted by Christmas. This may open up prospects of Bungie looking for profits elsewhere and even on the PS3!
Halo 3 is the ground breaker at the moment and Bungie splitting from Microsoft also raises the question that maybe the amazing success of the Halo series has influenced Bungie to go elsewhere. My only query is why Microsoft who has such a strong handle on the gaming market and with so much monetary power...let this happen.
