Bully…school play violence – GTA style

October 21st 2006 09:44

A while back I talked about Bully and whether or not it will even be released due to its violent nature and concept. Well behold, Rockstar has released Bully on the PS2 and it looks like a damn fine game (set aside the political ramifications and complaints that will shortly follow once the game begins to sell like hotcakes!). Having read reviews and watched trailers, this game has really hooked me.

Essentially, gamers will play Jimmy Hopkins, a 15 year old trouble maker who has been placed in a tough boarding school full of nerds, jocks, preps, bullies and other random students. Using the GTA- movement and layout concept, players will be able to play as Jimmy and complete missions and battling enemies using their fists, feet, sling shots and baseball bats to name a few. But don’t think this game has no storyline, since the missions look quite interesting. For example, players must attempt class to learn chemistry (to create fireworks later on), gym (learn fighting moves) all of which are set as min-games which will not bore gamers (unlike school ).

Graphically the game looks excellent (for PS2 standards) and character models and themes are very well created. Jocks act real dumb and nerds are very nerdy. Alliances can be formed and enemies made. When I look at this game, I start remembering the high school days I had, but not on the same level that we see in the *ahem* States. Having said that, many gamers will feel drawed to this game which they may relate to or just enjoy the high school theme (I hear people say everyday how they wish they were at high school again!). I highly recommend this game, and grab it quick before it gets taken off the shelves and possibly modified like most GTA games do!

Haha...I'm quite amazed by the concepts they come up with for video games these days.

And this one looks rather interesting - I imagine I could do some serious damage with that slingshot!
