Book, Movie, Now The Game - The Da Vinci Code

Boy has Dan Brown done a good job with his best selling novel, The Da Vinci Code. If you haven’t already heard what the fuss is all about, The Da Vinci Code is a fictitious mystery thriller following a Harvard Professor and his cryptographer accomplice, who try to unravel one of the ‘greatest’ secrets of all time – Christ surviving with his blood line still existent to this day. Some may yell blasphemy, believe it or just take it for a good read.
Whether you hate the book or love it, Dan Brown is cheering (on his way to the bank) and alongside the theatrical release of the novel (starring Tom Hanks) a video game will also cruise in and take the spot light on the latest gaming platforms.
Created by The Collective and published by 2K Games, the game will focus on the novel and the film starring Tom Hanks. Gameplay will revolve around a puzzle solving/adventure element with players being able to control the lead character in all the novel’s locations. Gamers should also expect to see ‘survival’ instances where the characters must escape from angry members of secret societies who are attempting to foil their investigation. Fighting sequences will follow quick button combinations for inputs displayed on the screen.
In my opinion (and I would think many others would agree), games that spark out onto our gaming shelves with direct connection to the film being released – end up being flops. Developers tend to rush the title and release it just in time when the film is released in order to score as much profits/sales as possible before the hype of the film dies. However, since this game follows the novel, we might have a different case here even though its release is almost simultaneous with the film.
We will have to wait and see when it is released in the US on May 19 for the Xbox, Playstation 2 and PC.
