Australia's Video Game Industry Voices Out!
July 6th 2007 10:37
The Games Developers Association of Australia has created a media statement in response to the 2007 Federal Budget: Wanting equal rebate treatment like the film’s industry.
Accounting for over 80 per cent of the industry, the GDAA press release claims that for every $10,000 spent in the film industry, only $3 contributes to the video game industry.
Other facts includes: domestic sales in the video game industry of around $400 million, export sales of $100 million and the creation of 1,600 jobs in the industry.
Well this is a huge claim by Australia's biggest video game industry body, it is true the industry here isn't as big as it deserves, which shows in the 2007 Budget. If the industry is big, then there would be a stronger coverage in video game news in Australia. Gosh it can be a lonely occupation sometimes.
