March 3rd 2008 08:15
The PC version of Assassin's Creed, an action game set in 1191 during the tumultuous Third Crusade will be released in Australia on March 27, 2008.
The game's lead character is Desmond Miles/Altair, a master assassin of the original sect of the Hashshashin (the original Arab word for assassin) setup by Muslims to eliminate rival Abbasid elites. Consisting of nine missions/assassinations, players must master the skills, tactics, and weapons of history’s deadliest and most secretive clan of warriors plus a variety of intelligence gathering tactics to collect information on their target in order to complete the game.
The setting of the game takes place in the Holy Land - Jerusalem, Acre, Damascus and Masyaf - with each city boasting a highly detailed environment which can be explored Grand Theft Auto style and populated by many people of different types.
Released earlier on the PS3 and XBOX 360 formats, the game has received positive reviews for its control scheme, replay value, and intriguing story. According to the games maker, UbiSoft, Assassin's Creed has sold around 3 million copies to date.
Expect this tally to rise upon the release of the game on PC format.
