A game we have been 'Prey'ing for!
June 24th 2006 01:21
Everyone has been talking about it, it has been in development for 10 years and now it is on its way to being released with the playable demo already out. The game is Prey, and is developed by 3D Realms, the creators of Duke Nukem. You might be asking…10 years? Yes, that long, but the graphics engine of the game has followed through with recent engines, and this game uses the Doom 3 engine which is a new standard in the latest FPS games.
The storyline follows Tommy, an angry man who is set on getting revenge and saving his girlfriend who has been abducted by aliens onto a massive spaceship. Tommy gathers his guts, picks up some alien weaponry and goes on a pistol pumping, alien destroying rampage…how sweet!
Portals seem to be an important aspect to this game, with players being able to travel from one location to another instantaneously (without load times) to challenge enemies or solve puzzles. Some portals even manipulate the size of your character or even those of your enemies.
Whilst blasting away at enemies, Tommy will also be able to walk up walls, enter a spirit mode (similar to a stealth mode to avoid enemies) and when dead must fight his way back to his body by challenging spirits.
If you love first person shooting games (and have high system specs to boot) then I suggest you try out the demo of Prey and see what all the commotion is about. Otherwise, wait for the Official release in July when it hits the PC and Xbox 360.
For more images like the ones above, see trailers of the game or even download and play the demo check out the Official Prey website.
