360 Elite Price Cut for Oz!

You may have seen the news around the net about Microsoft cutting the price of the Xbox 360 Elite – well, Australia will also be lucky enough to be getting a price cut too.
From September 22 – the Xbox 360 Elite will cost $449 and it will be bundled with Halo 3: ODST until October 20. The 360 Pro will not be getting a price cut – instead it will be discontinued. The 360 Elite is now $50 cheaper then the new PS3 slim and the same price as a PSP GO – that’s craziness when you think about it.
Although comparing the Xbox 360 Elite to the PS3 Slim may be a little misleading to some. With the Elite you will need to purchase an Xbox Live Gold Account for full access to the Marketplace and batteries or a Plug and Play kit for the controller which would put it approximately an extra $50 over the PS3 slim price. Plus you miss out on Blu-Ray.
Some will argue that comparing Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network is misleading but I’ll disagree with that too. Both services definitely have their pros and cons. Xbox Live has some good exclusive DLC like the GTA IV Episodes and games like Geometry Wars and Shadow Complex but in my opinion the PSN has some of the better downloadable games like Fat Princess, Trash Panic and Flower.
As for games – any douche that says the PS3 has no decent titles is a tool. Uncharted 2, Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destruction, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Resistance and coming up there is God of War III, Gran Turismo 5 and Uncharted 2 which continues to sweep Game of Show awards. The only 360 exclusive game I’m super-psyched for is Splinter Cell Conviction and possibly Alan Wake.
So while both systems offer great value – if you want to argue about price points I think the PS3 wins this round.
