Destroy countries RTS style in WW3
July 31st 2007 12:50
There is an abundance of RTS titles out there, but only a few strike the big hit list including the likes of Command and Conquer, Starcraft, Warcraft and Age of Empires. One common feature between these games (although set in vastly different environments) - is the structure of gameplay. This includes creating building, upgrades and units - which once pumped out, are set on objectives to complete the missions assigned. World in Conflict however, takes a different approach in the RTS genre.
World in Conflict allows players to choose 1 of 4 types of fighting categories including infantory, armor, air and support. Players also do not pump out stacks of units or build buildings on top of buildings in the hope to upgrade to the ultimate technology in order to wipe out their enemy - instead they control individual/small groups of units on missions through the map. The map itself is destructible, with real-life cities used as battlefields.
Over 20 units can be controlled for 3 factions including the US, Soviet and NATO. Places of war include real-life replicas of Seattle, France and Russia which can be blown to pieces. Graphics look very impressive with the nuclear blasts really setting off a light show for gamers (very nice eye candy indeed!).
The game is not about gathering resources or creating buildings - but about action, strategy and multiplayer fun included. Expect this game to be released this September!
