Destroy countries RTS style in WW3

July 31st 2007 12:50

Nuke

There is an abundance of RTS titles out there, but only a few strike the big hit list including the likes of Command and Conquer, Starcraft, Warcraft and Age of Empires. One common feature between these games (although set in vastly different environments) - is the structure of gameplay. This includes creating building, upgrades and units - which once pumped out, are set on objectives to complete the missions assigned. World in Conflict however, takes a different approach in the RTS genre.

World in Conflict allows players to choose 1 of 4 types of fighting categories including infantory, armor, air and support. Players also do not pump out stacks of units or build buildings on top of buildings in the hope to upgrade to the ultimate technology in order to wipe out their enemy - instead they control individual/small groups of units on missions through the map. The map itself is destructible, with real-life cities used as battlefields.
WW3 Invasion

Over 20 units can be controlled for 3 factions including the US, Soviet and NATO. Places of war include real-life replicas of Seattle, France and Russia which can be blown to pieces. Graphics look very impressive with the nuclear blasts really setting off a light show for gamers (very nice eye candy indeed!).

The game is not about gathering resources or creating buildings - but about action, strategy and multiplayer fun included. Expect this game to be released this September!

The gaming industry is BOOMING this year! The Wii bringing out the inner geek from every kid and senior gamer, hardcore gamers resting comfortably on their couches playing on Xbox Live, and the rich gamers with their shiny George Foreman.. ahem… PS3’s. It’s great to be a gamer!

This is something you don’t see every day; two game developers at log-heads over licensing issues. This is quite serious and is the type of gaming news stepping out of the ‘standard soft news’ with something ‘hard’ like reports found in the news section of newspapers.

E3 is pumping out another title from a big car racing series – of which I have played right from the very start on the Dreamcast – that continues to awe racing lovers with the arrival of Project Gotham Racing 4 on the Xbox 360. What can I say, from the trailer and pics I am very happy with what is being put together.

Sony to release a revamped PSP!

New PSP on the left

In time for Christmas this year, Sony will release the redesigned and slightly upgraded edition of their handheld console the Playstation Portable. So is this news that 'big'' and it will it make countless PSP owners out there sell their current PSPs and purchase the new edition (*ahem* Nintendo and the DS (to Lite version)? My prediction is pretty much no...

Say hello to Mr 80gb

No price cut for European gamers, unfortunately; instead we are treated to a bundle pack with the PS3 console, two controllers and two games, reportedly Sandstorm and Resistance for the UK, and most probably costing the original price of $999
