Crackdown: Be a hero in a GTA land…

December 31st 2006 07:30

Dave Jones, the creator of the GTA series has teamed up with Real Time Worlds to put together a GTA-inspired action game for the Xbox360. Players will be put in control of super-hero characters set in Pacific City – a futuristic city filled with crime. The main aim of the game is to take down the 21 crime bosses themed differently throughout the city which is reminiscent of the original GTA games.

Throughout the gameplay, players will be able to increase their character’s statistics such as agility, driving skills and even strength. Players will be able to use their super-human strengths to kick cars into buildings, people and even lift and throw their enemies into a chaos of destruction. Even more enjoyable is the co-op play which is found in this title which can place 2 human characters along side each other in levels with the aim to kill off other gangs. Funny enough, players can also kill each other which may be humorous to some but annoying to others.

There are a heap of explosions and catastrophe throughout the game and the graphics to look very pleasing to the eye- all of which show the great potential of the Xbox360. This game is set to be released by the end of February next year and it looks to be one to certainly look out for. If anything, this game is also filled with a lot of violence and will certainly turn heads when it is released (at the time being) only on the Xbox360.

Back in the old Sega Genesis (Mega Drive) days, game developer Treasure released an interesting and addictive side-stroller named Gunstar Heroes. Thirteen years later, and countless titles following the same gameplay, Sega is re-releasing this title on the Wii. When I first heard of this title, it did not really strike me as one which really made an impact in the old-gen days of gaming. Still, this game looks to be a good title with high resemblance to the Metal Slug series (from what I can see!).

FF Crystal Chronicles DS looking sweet

December 27th 2006 09:04

Square Enix is porting the Final Fantasy title that was exclusive to the Gamecube, over to the Nintendo DS( and Wii) and it is coming out to be pretty good. This title is separate to the storyline found on the PS2, with a change in graphics, non-turn based RPG action and even multiplayer which is new to this title. It is set for release this December in Japan on the DS, and all signs point positively.

TMNT new film also gets a new game

December 26th 2006 03:06

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are returning in a new film due out next year, and along with the film release, Ubisoft will be releasing a game which plays through the storyline of the movie. Fans will be happy that’s for sure, but what about gamers. This title is scheduled for release on March next year and will be out on all consoles – but could that be a bad thing?

Tomb Raider 1 remake

December 23rd 2006 15:22

Funny as it sounds, but game developers really like to remake the old classics which made their franchises big in the past,. New revamped graphics and extra features seem to appeal to new gamers and old fans, and Eidos is in the running to make that happen with the remake of Tomb Raider 1 for the PS2, PC and PSP.

Bomberman Land Touch! on the DS rocks!

December 21st 2006 13:11

Bomberman fans rejoice… the great action puzzler returns on the Nintendo DS and this time supported with multiplayer functionality. For those who are not familiar with the series, Hudson released this nifty battle title on the Playstation in the 90s and continued with a variety of titles on handhelds and the recent consoles. Players have control of a Bomberman (so to say) who is set on a map filled with bricks and obstacles. Scattered around the map are opponents who must use weapons (including bombs) and power-ups to destroy their enemies. Simply said…but addictive and fun!

Fight Night 3 packs a punch

December 18th 2006 13:04

Realism in boxing continues to get better as we begin the new-gen in gaming consoles and EA Sports doesn’t hold back with Fight Night 3. This title has been available on the Xbox 360 for some time now, and the PS3 is getting its own taste of some boxing action early next year.

Nintendo to recall 3.2 million straps

December 16th 2006 07:10

I recently made a post on the problems facing Wii gamers concerning their wrist straps which tend to break. After breaking, the remote would become a dangerous projectile and end up damaging the user’s precious television screen in which was the direction that a bowling bowl from Wii Sports was meant to go (not literally!).

Nintendo’s Mario always had a mischievous enemy who seemed to be famed enough to have his own line of games. His name is Wario, and Smooth Moves - set to be released on the Wii in January is a compilation off a large number of mini-games which are short, quick and require the gamer to use the Wii remotes in up to 18 different methods to pass and unlock new puzzles.

Bash some wild rabbits…Rayman style

December 11th 2006 12:01

Rayman Raving Rabbits is a nice little title for the Nintendo Wii that brings comedy, action and sensor gameplay together in a cute display of animal bashing! That’s simply said but this game is full of over 70 minigames that will keep any gamer – young or old – entertained for hours. More so, bring a group of mates together and this game is surly a blast.

Gran Turismo HD cancelled on the PS3

December 8th 2006 08:38

Quite unfortunate really…but Sony has cancelled the high definition version of Gran Turismo which was going to be released on the PS3. A demo of the title however will still be downloadable for free for Japanese PS3 owners which will only contain 10 cars and 2 tracks. Once again, Sony continues to keep gamers waiting an ever-long time for titles which have a big name...but will annoy many gamers in general with the continual delay (even the PS3 was delayed far beyond its competition).

Konami is pulling off a quirky yet interesting point and shoot title named Elibits that will surly make a mark on Nintendo’s new Wii console. Elibits are tiny little creatures that provide electricity to the world (yes strange concept) and have gone missing. It is essentially up to the player to find out where they are and capture them.

The long awaited Sony PSP title is almost out and it looks damn fine. This title is not a turn based game like the previous 2 PSP MGS games Metal Gear Acid 1 and 2, but follows the same gameplay structure as the normal series plays…3rd person action, stealth and adventure. Sony PSP ought to be very happy as the year draws to an end with a big title finally hitting the PSP in time for Christmas!
